Whack Records, The Phatcave Studio
-My hideout, The Phatcave is a small bedroom studio. I like to make metal, hip hop, blues, and singer/songwriter stuff (I do not combine them, out of respect to the genres). -I work completely within Cubase Studio 5, and am a huge fanboy for Steinberg/Cubase. -On top of my right monitor is a bust of Ludwig van Beethoven, and on the left, a dragon growing out of a stratocaster and playing himself, both were gifts from my ladyfriend, and they are my two favorite (non-gear) items in the room. There are also some harmonicas in there, a lee oskar 1910, and a hohner special 20. -I play a fender (mexican) standard fat-strat (used to be an ibanez, but the floyd rose on it was too high maintenance for me) through a Marshall vs102r that i got real cheap when i was a teenager, right now it needs the input jack resoldered, and I will probably change the tube while im in there. -I use a T.C. Electronic T.C. Konnekt8 fw interface because it has the best preamps and converters for the price (if you can get the drivers to work... most people can't). -I use a walk in closet as a vocal booth, lined with sweaters on one wall (absorbsion) and floor to ceiling rubbermaid tubs on the other (diffusion). There is also a giant poster of Tupac that I made in there, people are usually pretty confused when they see it, which is fun for me. -I use an akg perception 220 condenser mic. It's a pretty decent mic for the price, its not on my upgrade list for the time being, as I want a new pc to record on, some uad-2 cards, and some room treatments first. -Someday I hope to make my space as beautiful as some of the other home studio's I've seen on this site!
